In addition to cutting, we can also engrave most materials. You can supply your design as either a hand drawn sketch, which we will scan, or in a digital format, dxf or dwg is best, otherwise illustrator .ai
There is virtually no limit to the complexity of the cut and engraving as the laser cuts through leaving a 0.2mm gap.

Technical details:

MATERIALS
Most materials can be cut and engraved including acrylic, paper, card, mdf, thin ply, wood, cork, fabrics, satin, silk, leather, etc.
We can’t cut through metals, although if the metal has a painted or anodised surface, we can etch a design to reveal the metal below.

FILES FORMAT
Files accepted in order of preference include; dwg, dxf, ai, high res tif.
We can also work from hand drawn sketches, which we will scan in.

PREPARATION
When preparing your drawings ensure that the drawing is as clean as possible, remove double or duplicate lines, no block inserts or xrefs. Lines to cut should be on one layer and the engraving on another. Scale your drawings to the scale that you require with 1 unit = 1mm.
When using illustrator, make your design is outline only. The outlines to cut should be a different colour to the engraving lines. Scale your drawings to the scale you require. If you are using a Mac, save the file with the .ai extension. If you require lots of pieces of the same shape, only draw one, as our software will automatically nest the pieces to fit the sheet size.

PRODUCTION TIME
We normally require 2-3 days for production depending on the amount we are cutting. This may increase during the busy periods towards the end of University terms.

COSTS
All jobs will be quoted in advance. To save on costs, you may supply your own materials.
