Centrica Exhibition Stand

Centrica showcased their “Unlocking the UK Hydrogen Economy” campaign at the 2023 Conservative and Labour party conferences held in Manchester and Liverpool.

Their exhibition stand was designed in collaboration with National Gas to show the scale of opportunity that hydrogen offers for the future of the UK’s energy system. The model brought life to the opportunity from taking a whole system approach to building a hydrogen economy, charting the entire hydrogen value chain allied to National Gas Transmission’s Project Union, a phased repurposing of the UK’s natural gas National Transmission System (NTS) to create a UK hydrogen backbone carrying 100% of hydrogen by the early 2030’s.

For the exhibition stand we made a 2.4m high x 1.2m wide stand-alone display on wheels that was easy to transport and re-assemble. The stand was constructed using Plywood with a Perspex map graphic and colour coded system mounted on the front. We designed the back as a versatile peg board information point with bespoke leaflet boxes that can be mounted at any height.

Careful thought and attention to detail had to be applied when designing and installing the LED lamps and digital LEDs that displayed transmission pipelines that connected with a colour coded button system. To achieve smooth connectivity, the digital LEDs had to be carefully masked, so the lights didn’t bleed into one another.

The display unit was at an 80 degree angle, so for easy viewing, we accommodated by producing small wedge brackets to house the wind turbines and Rough Storage vertically. We also designed the side panel to act as a storage unit.

Overall, the display was a huge success and Centrica, as part of the Beyond 2050 exhibitions, was delighted to be awarded a “Best Stand Award.”

The exhibition stand is now on permanent display in the reception of their London Head Quarters.
